Victim Blaming in Sexual Harassment Cases: A Critique of Societal Views

Most Indonesians today are still trapped in a patriarchal culture, especially when it comes to sexual harassment cases. Where is assumed that women victims of (women victims) play “main role” inviting the perpetrators crime, beginning with victim's clothing, behavior, and even their sexuality considered seductive. Not only punished, but victim blamed or blames perpetrators. This article employs several paradigms reveals its discussion viewing cases blaming Indonesia, such as: (1) conducting studies based on muted group theory silent theory; (2) mass media plays role as form public opinion rape denotative editorial meaning, which leads gender feminism; (3) massive behavior order save from example, strive for government urged be serious responsive addressing problem violence, well build literate society guarding all forms narratives against female reduce blaming, harms both physically mentally.

Forty-four women and three men who were plaintiffs in sexual harassment and sexual discrimination cases were evaluated by experts for the plaintiffs and by the author, an expert in these cases, for the defense.
